The River Murray, the Lakes and the Coorong

Synopsis
There is widespread concern about the condition of the River Murray, and the perceived lack of the drastic action necessary to get the River back to a healthy system. Politics and State parochialism seems to make it difficult to take the urgent action that is necessary.

Some experts already believe that the Coorong is dead and will take decades to regain some form of health, and it could take decades for remedial action to be implemented. The Lakes will be changed forever without some decent environmental flows. The River and its many tributaries are seriously overdrawn by land users, and will not recover without massive reductions to water use.
